Greater Bluefield VA/WV Area Missions
The Timothy Project is pleased and honored to be a part of this missions effort in rural Appalachia. This mountain area has been known for coal mining and small scale farming as primary occupations. Bluefield WVA and Bluefield VA are towns that share a state border and a common heritage. The population of hard working mountain people has seen many changes including the local decline of the coal industry, reduction in train services and other important parts of the economy. The contributions of time and energy by volunteers, both local and distant, are vital ingredients in bringing hope and renewal. We will be assisting in a variety of ways, including home repairs, VBS for children and other ways we can be the presence of Christ. The Timothy Project will be partnering with agencies like the Center for Christian Action in determining needs coordinating work. Groups will be assigned projects based on local needs, matched with the group’s skills and interests. Group leaders will be responsible to manage their team of 8-12 persons and supervise the work being done. The Timothy Project will insure that materials are made available for the work sites.
